CRITERIA, INCENTIVE AND PROCEDURE
The Malaysian government has designed ‘Malaysia My Second Home Programme’
as an attractive settlement plan and welcomes people from countries all over the world, who meet certain criteria to live in Malaysia.
You would be given a 10-year
Social Visit Pass with a Multiple Entry Visa that is renewable
unless you have violated the Malaysia rules & regulations.
This program is opened to foreigners of 18 years old and above together with your dependants from countries politically recognized by Malaysia.
It is not a pre requisite to own properties to qualify for this program. However, you are encouraged to invest as it is much cheaper as compare to other countries in the region. More>>>
The main criteria for application are as follows:
The Authority has advice that applicants are expected to be financially capable of supporting themselves for ten years on this programme in Malaysia, without the need to work in the country. Besides fulfilling the basic financial criteria of Fixed Deposit placement of RM150,000 (for those aged 50 and above) or RM300,000 (for those aged below 50), applicants should furnish documentations on their financial position to strengthen their application.

|Age below 50 years old
|Show proof of liquid assets worth a minimum of RM500,000 (USD140,000) & upon approval place a fixed deposit account of RM300,000 (USD84,000) with any bank in Malaysia.
Show proof of monthly off-shore income of minimum RM10,000 (USD2,800) (e.g.payment slip, bank statement, income tax statement, etc)
|After a period of one year, the participant can withdraw up to RM150,000 (USD42,000) for purchase of houses, medical expenses or children’s education.
|Must maintain a minimum balance of RM150,000 (USD42,000) in the fixed deposit account from the second year onwards and throughout his stay in Malaysia under this programme.
|Age 50 years old and above
|Can either choose to:
Show proof of liquid assets worth a minimum of RM350,000 (USD97,500) with regular income of minimum RM10,000 (USD2,800) per month & upon approval place a fixed deposit account of RM150,000 (USD42,000) with any bank in Malaysia
Show proof of monthly off-shore income of minimum RM10,000 (USD2,800) (drawing from Government Approved Pension Funds only)
|After a period of one year, the participant can withdraw up to RM50,000 (USD14,000) for purchase of houses, medical expenses or children’s education.
|Must maintain a minimum balance of RM100,000 (USD28,000) in the fixed deposit account from the second year onwards and throughout his stay in
Malaysia under this programme.
In the case of applicants aged 50 and above, who choose the option of showing proof of monthly off-shore income (Government Approved Pension Fund Only), please ensure that you have a regular pension income.
Approved participants who have purchased and owned property which were bought at minimum RM1 million and above in Malaysia may comply with the basic fixed deposit requirement of RM150,000 or RM100,00 respectively. The minimum deposits may not be withdrawn until the participant decides to terminate his participation in MM2H programme.
An important criterion is possession of sufficient funds. Kindly ensure that you have documented proof of your financial capability, for example, authenticated bank statement for the last three months, and any other instruments that you may have to enable you to live in Malaysia
All applicants and their dependents (spouse and children) are required to submit a medical report from any private hospital / registered clinic in Malaysia.
Approved participants and dependents (spouse and children) must possess a valid medical insurance policy which is applicable in Malaysia. For people > 60 years, you may apply to the Ministry for exemption of medical insurance.
Above all the main criteria’s for the MM2H applications which you have to fulfill to qualify for the programme.
WORKING / BUSINESSES
MM2H participants are not allowed to be employed. However, you can be an investor and can actively participate in your own businesses subject to existing Government policies, regulations and guidelines which are in force for the relevant sectors.
Participants above 50 years old with specialized skills and expertise that require in the critical sector of the economy are allow to work not more than 20 hours per week (application require and the employment pass shall be given).
MM2H holders are not allowed to participate in activities that can be considered as sensitive to local people and as threat to the security of the country.
Participants of Malaysia My Second Home Programme are provided with various incentives to make their stay comfortable and enjoyable in Malaysia.
As from 1st January 2010, each participant is allowed to purchase any number of residential properties (landed or highrise) at a minimum price of above RM500,000. You can be 100% registered owner of the properties. Kindly visit www.propertylookout.com

You can obtain housing loan up to 80% as compare to normal 60% / 70% for foreign applicants (subject to your credibility and bank rules).
Each participant is allowed to bring in your own personal car OR to purchase a locally assembled car (CKD) without the need to pay import duty, excise duty and sales tax.
The saving can be up to 36% (depends on the car model & rate fixed by the authority)
1) “Personal Car” is referred to a car which was purchased and owned by participant before joining the MM2H programme.
2) Application of tax exemption must be submitted to Ministry of Finance within 6 months/1 year
respectively from the date of receiving endorsement of Malaysia My Second Home Visa & Pass.
3) Participants are only allowed to sell their imported /locally purchased car after 3 years stay on the programme.
4) CKD means Car Completely Knocked Down, which is locally assembled.
Each applicant is allowed to apply for one (1) maid from country of origin or country approve by the authority subject to the prevailing guidelines of the Immigration Department of Malaysia.
Applicants are allowed to bring your children who under 21 years old and not married as their dependants under this programme.
Children who intend to continue their schooling in Malaysia are required to apply for a Student Pass and should be insured throughout their stay under this programme. More>>
All income brought into Malaysia is Tax Free, but income earn in Malaysia shall be subjected to tax.
Participants are bound by the policies, systems and regulations of taxes of this country and they do not have exemption qualifications as granted to Diplomatic Missions in Malaysia.
For participants have stayed more than 182 days
in Malaysia could apply Tax Exemption
for their pension fund. This is subject to those countries

FAQ Q1. How long will take for my application to me approved?
About 2 months, provided all the documents submitted are complete, in order and fulfilled the authority's requirements. Q2. Why were some of the applications rejected?
Mainly are due to failure in meeting the financial requirements i.e. fixed deposit and proof of foreign income are the minimum requirements.
In order to improve the chances of approval, a strong financial background is needed, by providing bank deposit statements, asset statements and proof of any additional incomes from rental, pension fund etc. All these statements will provide an additional advantage. Q3. How can I apply for this program and how to get a sponsor/agent to assist in this application?

It has to be completed within 6 months from the date of approval. Q5. Can the Social Visa Pass and Multiple Entry Visa be renewed after 10 years?
Yes. It is guaranteed renewable, provided the person does not commit any offense, crime or any other activities that are deemed against the Malaysian laws set by the authority. You need to apply for renewal three (3) months before the expiry period either by yourself or seek the assistance of any Malaysian Official Sponsor/Agent. Q6. If the applicant has been staying in Malaysia for a long time, can he/she still to eligible to apply for this program ?
Yes, provided the applicant fulfills all the requirements and applicant is in possession of a valid Social Visa at the point of application. Registration can be made in Malaysia. Q7. Can I withdraw my fixed deposit after successfully joining this program?
After 1 year, you must maintain a minimum balance of RM100,000 or RM150,000
in the fixed deposit account throughout your stay in Malaysia under this program. Q8. Can foreign students continue their studies easily in Malaysia?
Yes. There are lots of international and foreign schools, institutions and universities located in in Malaysia, with international standards.
Q9. Can I receive medical treatment?
24 hours Clinics, medical centres, hospitals are found in all states and towns. The fees are very competitive.
